Project Inception and Pre-Contract

We provide cost planning, measurement and billing services. Whether you require high level builder’s quantities or a full set of bills of quantities measured under SMM7 or NRM or CESMM. We have the support of the latest CostX software to measure and bill your scheme.

We can draft the contract for you which has the proper allocation of risks and obligations, or ensure that with a proper review of any presented contract, prior to signing, that clarity is provided on the onerous and high risk obligations being included which could adversely affect payment and outturn margin. With a bullet point review of the contract so you will be aware of the key obligations, risks and time sensitive matters and have an opportunity to challenge high risk clauses.

We can make recommendations as to the choice of contract and undertake the selection of contractors to tender a scheme, manage the tendering process and ultimately the appointment of the preferred main contractor.

Post-Contract Support and Administration

We provide post-contract contractual and commercial support and assistance across most sectors for main contractors and subcontractors.

During the construction phase we can, if necessary, alongside an appointed Project Manager, jointly administer the Contract and specifically, the commercial aspects of the project, including the evaluation of the works at interim periods, managing any changes to the scheme, reducing the risk of disputes and final accounting.

Where contract sensitive matters need addressing within the correct timescale, we can administer these requirements with the appropriate notice or update.

Our aim would always be to control the outturn expenditure against the Contract Sum, within the bounds of the Contract, and mitigate the risk of formal disputes arising. That said in the event that a formal dispute arose then we have access to suitably qualified and highly experienced Adjudicators that would administer the process effectively and efficiently.

Nigel worked for me at the Department for Education as Project Manager, helping to deliver a mixed programme of primary and secondary school design and build projects. Nigel’s quantity surveying experience made him an exceptional PM, with the ability to deal with construction issues and suggest alternatives when issues were discovered.
